Recent Global research summary   The Harris Poll, OpenX ​  2019

​Digital transformation stats regarding online consumption

  • By the end of 2019 80% of all internet traffic will be video.
  • According to a new Digital TV Research forecast, the number of homes worldwide with subscription or transaction type OTT services (streaming platforms) are expected to reach 428 million by 2020. 
  • Revenues from transaction and subscription on-demand video services are estimated to be $32.18 billion by 2020.
  • These consumers own at least 3 devices, are subscribed to a least 4 video streaming platforms (OTT’s) and are consuming video content from 5.2 - 7 hours day.
  • Today 266,000 hours being watched every minute on Netflix, 4.6 million views a minute on YouTube and estimated 22+ billion views daily
  • Largest Markets are U.S. and China, estimated at 127 million and 74 million subscribers by 2021 
  • Millennials and the Gen-X viewers are currently the largest group of video consumers and favor accessing video content through OTT type streaming services over any other service.
  • In basic terms, the above research shows that content in the form of video is dominating current user consumption habits and that users, of a unique public service like, a Digital Presentation Platform for the Performing arts will be accepted readily and grow exponentially.
     
    “The Arts Community programming” needs to be vertically integrated and made available to all community content creators and consumers alike."
